    How much does the course cost?

    The nine-hour course will cost $780. There will be a reduced fee for early registrants until August 30th -- if registering early you will only pay $650.

    How many CE credits?

    Attendees of the course are eligible for 8 CE credits.

    How can I cancel my registration?

    There will be 15 minute breaks during lectures and between lectures. Schedule format is subject to change.

    Essential Considerations for Moderate Sedation

    "Sense and Non-Sense" This presentation will highlight essential scientific principles for moderate sedation and attempt to dismiss arcane narratives that persist in clinical practice. Emphasis is placed on drug regimens having proven safety and efficacy in controlling procedural apprehension. Principles of appropriate patient monitoring along with the recognition and management of sedation-related complications will also be addressed.

      1. Characterize minimal, moderate and deep sedation, and distinguish these from general anesthesia.
      2. Describe the appropriate use of various drug classes useful for providing sedation, including differences in single drug versus multiple drug regimens.
      3. Describe appropriate monitoring of perfusion, ventilation and oxygenation
      4. Describe recognition and management of related complications.

    Arthur Kahn

    Arthur Kahn graduated magna cum laude from Colgate University in 1972. He received his law degree from Georgetown University in 1975. Mr. Kahn is admitted to practice law in both state and federal courts within Virginia, D.C., and Maryland. He has been in private practice since 1975. He has successfully litigated a broad range of civil matters, including real estate, breach of contract and commercial claims, shareholder and partnership disputes, will contests, fraud, personal injury and medical malpractice claims.

    Dr. Daniel Becker

    Dr Becker received his DDS from Ohio State University in 1972. He is currently Professor of Allied Health Sciences at Sinclair Community College and Associate Director of Education for the General Practice Dental Residency at Miami Valley Hospital, in Dayton. He provides IV sedation services for dental practices throughout the Dayton-Cincinnati area. He has lectured for organizations, colleges and universities throughout North America on topics related to pharmacology, conscious sedation, medical assessment and medical emergencies.

    Dr. Mehrabian received his DDS from Howard University in 1996. In 1998, he had a one year post-doctoral residency program of GPR at DC General Hospital department of Oral Surgery and General Dentistry. He is currently the chief dentist at Maryland Dental Center, a large group practice in Maryland and Virginia. Currently he is board certified and he holds a Class II permit for anesthesia and sedation.

    After attending the University of Maryland at College Park, Dr. Fatemi received his DDS from the Columbia School of Dental & Oral Surgery at New York. He has since taken many courses, including those in orthodontics, TMD therapy, dental implants and pediatrics. The doctor has completed a residency program in Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) at Columbia University's School of Dental & Oral Surgery. He undertook two years in implant dentistry & one year of training for IV sedation at Miami Valley Hospital. He is also a Fellow and Member in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. Currently he serves as the treasurer of the Patuxent Dental Society. Dr. Fatemi was awarded a fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry.
